CSEA MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is simple: to represent our members as best we can in any way we can; and to continue our role as a leader among labor unions.

To accomplish these goals, we will promote and protect union democracy. We will defend workers' rights. We will improve the quality of our members' work life. We will organize workers and represent them in the best, most effective manner possible.

As a labor union, we are committed to excellence in this work. We are committed to treating our members as our most important asset.

Because the union is the sum of its members, we will promote member participation in the union.

We will efficiently use our members' dues money.

We will negotiate the best contracts we can and enforce these contracts.

We will effectively use legislative and political action to improve contracts, work life and laws affecting our members.

We will train our members, leaders and staff.

We will communicate and process information important to our members and the union.

We will strive to secure a safe work environment for all our members.

MEET ONE-ON-ONE WITH CSEA PRESIDENT
DANNY DONOHUE

  • CSEA President Danny Donohue will visit the CSEA Western Region on May 31st to meet with members.

  • The meetings will be held in the Region Office at 120 Pineview Drive, Amherst, NY.

  • Donohue will meet with union members from
    1 to 7 p.m.

  • Please call the Western Region office at 691-6555 for an appointment and directions.

  • Thanks to all of our members who worked so hard helping us get Mark Poloncarz elected as county executive. We had more member involvement than ever before and I think those who worked with us on the campaign really enjoyed participating and knowing they made a difference. It was great to have new people get involved.

But we cannot quit now. 2012 will be a very important year for working families. We need you, our members, to stay involved and active in political action to make sure that no more anti-union representatives get elected on the state and federal levels.

    ALERT!!

THERE IS A MOVEMENT UNDER WAY IN THE NY STATE LEGISLATURE TO REPEAL THE TRIBOROUGH AMENDMENT.

THE TRIBOROUGH AMENDMENT WAS PASSED BY THE NYS LEGISLATURE IN THE EARLY 1980’S. IT AMENDED THE TAYLOR LAW IN ORDER TO COUNTERACT THE FACT THAT THE EMPLOYEES DID NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO STRIKE. TRIBOROUGH MAKES THE EMPLOYER CONTINUE ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT, UNCHANGED, UNTIL A NEW CONTRACT IS NEGOTIATED.

CSEA NEEDS YOU TO CONTACT YOUR STATE SENATOR, ASSEMBLYMAN AND THE GOVERNOR TO LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU OPPOSE ANY REPEAL OF THIS AMENDMENT.
